The Indianapolis Indians is the professional Triple-A baseball club affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Indians play their home games in Victory Field at White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis.
Since its opening in July of 1996 at White River State Park, the ballpark has hosted more than twelve (12) million fans for Indians games, an average of more than 8,000 fans per game. In addition to hosting Indianapolis Indians games, Victory Field at White River State Park annually plays host to the Indiana High School Baseball State Championships, city and county championships, numerous college baseball games, as well as some charity walks, events, and festivals.
The Indianapolis Indians are Indianapolis’ first and oldest professional sports team. Professional baseball has been played in Indianapolis since 1887. The club has won 23 championships and has produced 12 Hall of Famers including Harmon Killebrew, Grover Cleveland Alexander, and Al Lopez. Over 100 former Indians have played in the Majors through the 2014 season including Randy Johnson, Paul Konerko, and Andrew McCutchen.
The Indianapolis Indians Baseball regular season in Victory Field at White River State Park usually plays from April through early September (typically through Labor Day weekend).
