Attraction Overview

The restored 1870 Indianapolis Water Company pumping station provided the first public water services for Indianapolis and is included on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Historic Pumphouse is the current home of White River State Park’s administrative offices.  To the West and overlooking the White River, is a memorial pavilion to Michael A. Carroll, Frank McKinney, Jr., Robert Welch, and John Weliever.  These four (4) civic leaders died during a 1992 Park business trip when the airplane carrying them crashed.
