Since 2004, White River State Park has made major moves to reach out and engage with Volunteers for the future success of the Park. Over 1,600 Volunteers have passionately lent helping hands and creative minds to maintain and enhance environmental stewardship, environmental redevelopment, and visitor satisfaction outreach initiatives throughout the Park. Currently, seasonal Volunteer opportunities exist to assist with the Park’s engaged outreach, beautification, greenspace renewal, and redevelopment projects. Volunteer opportunities at White River State Park may include: canal walkway clean-up, prepping flower beds, planting flowers, weeding and greenspace clean-up, mulch spreading throughout the Park, painting, concerts and events outreach rangers, and much more. Due to the “nature” of our outdoor greenspace and hardscape Volunteer renewal opportunities, we request that our Volunteers wear adequate (closed-toe) shoes which may very well get dirty. Tennis shoes are okay; as long as Volunteers understand they may have “mud-covered” shoes by the time they complete their Volunteer adventure in the Park. The passion of our Volunteers ensures that residents and visitors alike may enjoy the natural beauty of White River State Park today and in the future. Typically, passionate Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 12 PM and/or 1 PM – 4 PM. Also, depending on the size of groups that display an engaged interest for outdoor renewal and empowerment Volunteer opportunities, weekends are a possibility. Individuals and/or groups are welcome to help with sectional phases of Park greenspace renewal opportunities throughout the four (4) Indiana seasons. Please call the Park’s Visitor’s Center 317-233-2434 or e-mail at receptionist@wrsp.in.gov (and wrspfas@wrsp.in.gov) to schedule your next Volunteer activity at White River State Park. Thankyou for your continued support and see you in at White River State Park (@WhiteRiverStPrk) soon!
